All too often we call ourselves lazy if we do not complete all the tasks we set ourselves to do.
If we miss our exercise, we beat ourselves up and tell ourselves we are a failure.
When we don’t follow through with plans, often over-ambitious plans, we tell ourselves we are crap.
We punish ourselves, call ourselves fat and/or lazy.
We believe we have fucked up now, so we might as well eat all the ice cream anyway!
It is this cycle that is holding you back not you being lazy!
The question in the title today is the wrong question.
If you are stuck in this cycle, try these things:-
Be Kind To Yourself;
Being an adult it hard.
Things are tough at the moment, globally and economically.
Stop being so hard on yourself.
We are much harder on ourselves than we are on friends or close family.
How would you speak to your best friend if they were you?
Keep It Simple;
Make the things you want to do so easy, you can’t say no.
If necessary start by planning to do something for just 2 minutes.
If you want to walk more, say you will walk for 2 minutes.
Do press-ups for 2 minutes, go to the gym for 2 minutes.
Can you spend 2 minutes planning food for tomorrow?
2 minutes looking at the week ahead?
Something is always better than nothing!
Take One Step At A Time;
I know it’s a cliche, but Rome was not built in a day.
If you need to get on the roof of your house, you do not jump, you climb a ladder.
Trying to jump from the ground would be impossible.
Just like some of the over-ambitious goals we set ourselves!
Do things that are easy, then each week, focus on one thing. As these build up over time, you become successful.
