We know that more than ever there are coaches, products, diets, pills and more that promise the world. Hear from a selection of our clients about why they chose Next Step Nutrition for their Health & Fitness Transformation
Brad Bennett - Lost Over 20kgs
Before working with Next Step Nutrition, I was desperate to find consistency and balance with knowledge regarding my food and exercise.
In the time working with them I've achieved 20kgs of weight loss and a shift of focus to more performance and task orientated goals which I’m really enjoying. Including upcoming running events.
My self-confidence has massively improved and many things that I didn’t think I used to be able to I now do. I have so little less excuses.
They have worked with me to give me the confidence, knowledge and facts about nutrition and helped me get on the path to where I want to be. Without them, I’d still be stuck in the crazy cycle I was.
Jo Chamberlain - Lost Over 30kgs
Before working with Next Step Nutrition, I felt like a failure as I’d lose a bit of weight and then put it (and more) back on again.
But through working with them I learnt how to eat in a way that I could sustain. Completely changed my relationship with food and was able to maintain my weight loss.
During my time working with them and the following years implementing the strategies they taught me and the mindset they allowed me to form around food, I have lost and kept off over 30kg.
If I could go back in time I would work with them all over again. The confidence they helped me build in my ability to lose weight will forever stay with me.
Throughout the whole process I was able to enjoy life events like holidays, birthdays etc whilst still losing weight.
Most importantly, they provided education meaning I continued to lose and maintain my weight loss long after working with them.
Laban Cook - Lost 20kgs & Counting
Before working with Next Step Nutrition, I struggled maintaining any weight loss.
It was embarrassing being overweight. It was also embarrassing to lose weight multiple times only to gain it back in six months or a year.
While working with NSN, I improved my relationship with food and was able to build many small habits that help me enjoy food while maintaining a calorie deficit over time.
I have lost over 40 pounds over twelve months while still enjoying a whole variety of foods. I have built habits that include exercising 4 days per week and focusing on workout enjoyment, increased protein intake, drinking more water, increasing my average daily step count from 8,500 last year to 11,500 this year.
If you're like me and have spent years overweight or unable to maintain weight loss, focusing on what the scales say won't help you or make you feel any better. Jumping onto quick fix fads or 8 week extreme diets will not address the underlying issues.
Instead, work with NSN to develop a healthy mindset, identify and address the psychological barriers that sabotage you, and build many small healthy habits that accumulate over time to lose weight and keep it off. I will finish this year as a thin, vibrant, healthy person for the first time in over twenty years.

FOUNDER / HEAD COACH
I've been where you are now. I used to vary between 'eating clean' and being miserable to eating everything in sight and still being miserable. I had no balance with my food, no energy, and a terrible relationship with eating.
When I was 16, I lost my dad to heart disease. This was because he was overweight, over-stressed, had a terrible relationship with food and didn't understand how to spin all of life's plates. From that point, I dedicated my life to help make sure this doesn't happen to others.
I'm not about chicken and rice, endless Tupperware boxes and meal-prepping your entire week. I love beer, cheesecake, bbq food and believe your best life is achieved when you know how to enjoy all of these and still look good naked.
As a Certified Nutritionist and Founder of Next Step Nutrition, I have helped many people just like you improve their relationship with food, look good naked, and keep these results for life.
I've also presented at businesses like BBC Leeds, pWc, Barclays, Org3D and West Yorkshire Police.
You can have the best of both worlds, you just need to understand how.
I’ve struggled on and off with my weight for most of my life. Since the age of 13 I’ve been aware of my size. I’m 34, now… That’s over 20 years of struggling.
I used to LOVE WWE (WWF at the time) and would spend my Friday nights watching Walker Texas Ranger and Raw. Do you know what else I’d do whilst watching TV? Snack. Crisps, chocolates, biscuits. My snacking habit started then. I remember coming home from school and hiding chocolate bars in my underwear drawer.
Thus began the secret eating and my ‘bad’ relationship with food. I realised 5 or 6 years ago that food became my crutch as a young boy. When I was bullied at school I would turn to food as comfort. That trend continued for years and still rears its ugly head now and again. Habits like the ones above are hard to break. Any bad habit is hard to break.
Luckily, I fell in love with exercise in my early 20’s and that love forced me to eat better. At least I thought it was better. At 26/27 I was in the best shape I’d ever been in up to that point. I'd been coaching for a couple of years and opened my own gym. I was mainly eating low carb, high fat and plenty of protein. But I was moody and restricting any foods I considered ‘bad’. I would rely on cheat days to have the foods I wanted to eat. The yo-yo cycle continued for the next 5 years.
Then – in 2017, I reached out to Jonny Landels and Next Step Nutrition.
He coached me using a flexible dieting protocol. I could pretty much eat what I wanted and still lose weight, perform and train well, and not feel like I was restricting myself or leaning on food as a crutch. My major problems come from disordered eating and sleeping. As a gigging musician and gym owner, late nights would often run into early mornings. Lack of routine and poor sleeping habits lead to poor choices, but I’m much better at managing it all now.
My breakthrough led me to sign up to the same nutrition certification as Jonny. I learned so much about evidence-based nutrition and coaching. I qualified as a certified nutritionist in 2018 through MacNutritionUni. I’d recommend that course to anybody. Since then I’ve coached clients using different methods (suited to the individual) such as calorie-counting, portion control, habit and behaviour coaching, and weekly check-ins. I’ve witnessed frustration, crying with clients on the phone, massive breakthroughs, and realizations that are powerful enough to help people make lasting changes.
You see, it’s not enough to teach someone how to lose weight. The person we're helping has to have a big enough reason that they make lasting changes through deep exploration of their struggles. Once we know what drives them to make changes, we don’t dwell on it and keep revisiting it. We formulate a strategy, put a system or systems in place, and then we execute.
The most important element of any plan is coaching. It’s being there for your client to help, to hold them accountable, to listen, empathise, and meet them where they are, week to week. I’m lucky to have that kind of relationship with my coach.
Maybe you're like me?
You want to eat well, but when you’re stressed and tired, you end up eating ALLLL the calories to relieve some of that stress. You reach for high-reward foods and end up overeating. The next thing you know, it’s 1 am and you need to be up at 6. And the cycle continues. Sound familiar?
